The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arrived in Colombo, the capital city of Srilanka. He was received at the airport by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Mr. Ranil Wickramsinghe.
Both Prime Ministers later visited the Seema Malaka Temple, where they were received by the Chief Monk of the Temple, among other dignitaries.
The Prime Minister offered flowers at the altar of the Temple. Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Wickramsinghe together pressed a switch for the lamp-lighting ceremony on the eve of Vesak Day, characterised by brilliant multi coloured lights and a fireworks display.
Seema Malaka is a Buddhist temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka.The temple is mainly used for meditation and rest, rather than for worship.
Situated in the Beira Lake, the temple was originally constructed in the late 19th century. Seema Malaka is a part of the Gangaramaya Temple and is situated few hundred meters to its east.
Seema Malaka is situated 34 kilometres (21 mi) south of Bandaranaike International Airport and 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south-east of Galle Face Green.
