The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal offered Shradhanjali to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in Guwahati today.

The Minister also interacted with the students and handed over Khadi clothes as a token of Vocal For Local call by PM Narendra Modi in order to build an Atmanirbhar Bharat – a dream of Mahatma Gandhi. The Sewa Pakhwada programme, which started from 17 September and ends on 2 October, 2022, has inspired people from across the country to join this movement to build a new India through various activities like tree plantation, blood donation, and similar healthcare camps to enrich the quality of lives of the people of India.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Sonowal said, “Today, on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, along with rest of humanity, we offered our solemn prayer and Shradhanjali with utmost devotion. We seek blessings from Bapu ji to further strengthen the idea of India by all of us through dedication and commitment towards nation building. Under the dynamic leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modiji, we must join this beautiful cause, along with so many of our countrymen who had already participated in many programmes like blood donation, tree plantation etc., and participate in the Sewa Pakhwada campaign to rejuvenate the country. Bapuji always inspired people to become self reliant and Atma Nirbhar. As Modi ji always highlights the potential and possibilities of our country, we must work together to create a positive atmosphere for vocal for local call both domestically and globally as we march towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat. We must serve our nation and mankind as per ‘Swachata Hi Sewa’ call. The dream of Bapuji to see Ram Rajya in the country is evolving in the country under the committed and dedicated effort made by Narendra Modi ji. People are now witnessing the Ram Rajya in the country with the sincere, honest effort made by PM Narendra Modiji. I call upon everyone to join this wonderful cause of nation building for a strong, independent and proud India.”
