Virat Kohli Fastest to Score 8000 ODI Runs

Virat Kohli has become the fastest batsman to 8000 runs in one-day international cricket.

Kohli reached the 8000-run mark in his 175th innings to go ahead of South African captain AB de Villiers who had taken 182 innings to reach the milestone.

Kohli reached this milestone during the course of his unbeaten 96 off 78 deliveries against Bangladesh in ICC Champions Trophy semi-final in Birmingham.

Sourav Ganguly (200 innings) and Sachin Tendulkar (210 innings) are now third and fourth in the list.

Earlier this year, South Africa opener Hashim Amla had broken Kohli’s record of being the quickest to 7000 runs in ODIs, getting there in his 150th innings. Amla is also the fastest to 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 runs.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan also became India’s highest run-getter in the Champions Trophy, surpassing Ganguly’s haul of 665 runs.
