The world’s longest aircraft, the Airlander 10 airship, has crashed during a test flight in Bedfordshire in central England.
The airship which undertook its first flight last week, had hit a telegraph pole.
The huge ship – nicknamed “The Flying Bum” because of its pert, round back.
The Hybrid Air Vehicles HAV 304 / Airlander 10 is a British hybrid airship manufactured by Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV).
Comprising a broad-hulled airship with auxiliary wing and tail surfaces, it flies using both aerostatic and aerodynamic lift.
Powered by four diesel-engine driven ducted propellers, it is the largest aircraft flying today.
Hybrid Air Vehicles is the manufacturer of the helium-filled airship.
