A District Level Workshop under the G-20 Janbhagidari Programme was successfully conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Vasco Da Gama today. The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, aimed to empower young minds with valuable information and foster a sense of global citizenship. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from several schools in South Goa, showcasing the commitment of the educational community towards holistic development and awareness.
The inauguration of the workshop was graced by Shri. Nagaraj G Honnekeri, former Director, SCERT, Government of Goa. In his keynote address, Shri. Nagaraj G Honnekeri shed light on the theme of India’s G-20 presidency, Vasudaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future. He emphasized the importance of instilling this idea in children from an early age, encouraging parents to impart the understanding that all living beings, including humans, animals, plants, microorganisms, and even inanimate matter, are interconnected and form part of the same global family.
The workshop featured insightful sessions on various topics, including the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). Mrs. Anupama Mehra, the Principal of NCS Dabolim, took charge of the NEP 2020 session, providing valuable insights into the policy’s vision and objectives. The interactive discussions and presentations aimed to enhance the understanding of educators and administrators regarding the implementation of NEP 2020, fostering a learner-centric and holistic education system.
Furthermore, the workshop dedicated a session to raise awareness about the G-20 and its significance on a global scale. Through engaging activities and discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of G-20’s role in addressing global challenges, promoting international cooperation, and shaping a sustainable future. The session emphasized the importance of active participation and engagement in global affairs, empowering young minds to become responsible global citizens.
Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Vasco Da Gama also organized a series of activities to spread awareness on G20 Presidency, NEP 2020, and FLN during the preceding 15 days, from 1st June to 15th June. These activities included paintings, essay writing, quizzes, and Prabhat Feri (morning processions).
