New Initiatives of the Government

PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAY SHRAMEV JAYATE KARAYAKRAM

  • Five schemes have been launched under this programme.
  • These schemes are aimed both at creating a conductive environment for industrial development and doing business with ease and also expanding government support to impart skill training for workers.
  • The programme is being implemented by the Ministry of Labour.
  • The five schemes are:
  1. Sharm Suvidha Portal: Under the Portal, the government would allot Labour Identification Number (LIN) to nearly 6 lakh firms and allow them to file online compliance for 16 out of 44 labour laws by simplifying the process through the introduction of just a single online form.
  2. Universal Account Number Scheme (UAN) for all Provident Fund contributors which will allow portability and online tracking of PF benefits.
  3. Random Inspection Scheme is to bring in transparency in labour inspection.
  4. Apprentice Protsahan Yojana will support manufacturing units and other establishments by reimbursing 50% of the stipend paid to apprentices during first two years of the training.
  5. Revamped Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana is to improve the present scheme, smart cards of unorganized sector workers to be seeded with two more social security schemes.

DIGITAL INDIA

  • The vision of Digital India aims to transform the country in to a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
  • The programme will be implemented in phases from the current year till 2018.
  • This programme has been envisaged by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY).
  • It would also bring in public accountability through mandated delivery of government`s services electronically; a Unique ID and e-Pramaan.
  • High speed internet as a core utility shall be made available in all Gram Panchayats.
  • Universal digital literacy
  • All digital resources universally accessible
  • All Government documents/certificates to be available on the cloud.

Digital India aims to provide the much needed thrust to the 9 pillars of growth areas, namely
