Sanofi Gets New Chairman

Drugmaker Sanofi India Ltd announced the election of Aditya Narayan as its new Chairman. He replaces liquor baron Vijay Mallya who quit as Chairman late in March, after 33 years at the post.

With over 40 years of industry experience, Aditya Narayan, 64, earlier served with ICI Ltd, now Akzo Nobel India Ltd for about 30 years across diverse functions and businesses.

He was its Managing Director between 1996 and 2003 and then its non-executive Chairman from 2003-2010. Between 2005 and 2009, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of BHP Billiton India.

He had also served on a number of other Boards and is an Independent Director of Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Linde India Ltd and Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd, the note said.

Headquartered in Paris, Sanofi’s parent company holds 60.4 per cent equity in this legal entity.

Meanwhile, the beleaguered baron Mallya continues to be Chairman of agro-chemical company Bayer Cropscience Ltd.
