POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCHEDULED CASTE STUDENTS (PMS-SC)

  • The Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme and the single largest intervention by Government of India for educational empowerment of scheduled caste students.
  • The Scheme is in operation since 1944.
  • The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to scheduled caste students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.
  • The scholarships are available for studying in India only.

BABU JAGJIVAN RAM CHHATRAWAS YOJANA

  • The objective of the Scheme is to provide hostel facilities to SC Boys and Girls studying in middle schools, higher secondary schools, colleges and Universities.
  • The state governments/union territory administrations and Central and state universities/ institutions are eligible for central assistance.

RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP FOR SC STUDENTS

  • The scheme provides financial assistance to Scheduled Caste students for pursuing research studies leading to M. Phil, Ph.D, and equivalent research degree in universities, research institutions and scientific institutions.
  • University Grants Commission (UGC) is the nodal agency for implementing the scheme.
  • 2000 Research Fellowships Junior Research Fellowships (IRF) per year are awarded to Schedule Caste students.
  • There is no income-ceiling prescribed under the Scheme.

NATIONAL OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP FOR SC CANDIDATES

  • National Overseas Scholarship is meant to provide assistance to selected scheduled caste, denotified, nomadic, semi-nomadic tribes, landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans students for pursuing higher studies of Master level courses and PhD programmes abroad in specified fields of study.

SPECIAL CENTRAL ASSISTANCE (SCA) TO SCHEDULED CASTES SUB-PLAN

  • Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) is a central sector scheme, started in 1980, under which 100% grant is given to the States/UTs, as an additive to their Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP).
  • The main objective is to give a thrust to family oriented schemes of economic development of SCs below the poverty line.
