E-Cinepramaan Launched

Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu launched the online film certification system, ‘e-cinepramaan’, with an aim to censor corruption and promote clean cinema.

The new system of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will make the entire process of certification transparent and efficient.

The new online certification system will be an important step in making the CBFC office paper less and would enable effective monitoring and real time progress tracking for both CBFC officials and the applicant (producers).

The payments made during the process by the producers will go to Bharatkosh portal.

The status of each application would be visible online in the dashboard of the producer and the concerned CBFC official.

The producers will be informed by SMS or e-mail about the status of their application.

In case of short films, promos and trailers of duration less than 10 minutes, the producer will be able to submit their creations online.

For films longer than 10 minutes, the applicant will only have to show the film at the examining theatre and will not have to visit the CBFC offices except to collect their certificates.

The certificates issued by the online system will have a QR code, which would help in eliminating fraudulent certificates.

The changes in the current processes of CBFC will ensure better facilitation and technological up-gradation to match-up with the pace of growing Indian cinema.
