TENZING NORGAY NATIONAL ADVENTURE AWARD

  • Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award is the highest national recognition for outstanding achievements in the field of adventure on land, sea and air.
  • A cash award, a statue and a certificate of honour is given to each awardee.
  • This award has been made at par with the Arjuna Award for sporting excellence.

NATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL

  • Every year, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports organizes the National Youth Festival during the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great philosopher and thinker.
  • The National Youth Festival is celebrated from 12th to 16th January.
  • The idea behind a Youth Festival is to promote the concept of national integration, spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure.
  • Like the National Youth Festival, States are also encouraged to hold State level, District level and Block level Youth Festivals on the same lines.

NATIONAL YOUTH AWARDS

  • National Youth Awards are given away to young men and women and to a voluntary Organisation in recognition of their outstanding work in the field of national development and social service.
  • These awards are given every year during the National Youth Festival coinciding with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda i.e. 12th January.

 NEHRU YUVA KENDRA SANGATHAN (NYKS)

  • The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) was established in 1972 to provide rural youth avenues to take part in the process of nation building and opportunities for the development of their personality and skills.
  • NYKS has 623 Kendras, 28 zonal offices and over one lakh village based youth clubs with enrolment of about 8 million volunteers.
  • The aim is to form village level voluntary action groups of youth at the grass root level so that they come together with the concern for the poorest of the poor.
  • 10,000 active youth clubs are being graduated to become Mentor Youth Clubs, two in each 5000 Blocks of the country.
  • The Mentor Youth Clubs will act as a bridge between the district NYK and the village Youth Clubs.
  • The Government of India through its youth based flagship organisation Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan has initiated a Pilot project namely Youth Employability Skill (YES) Project to enhance the employability of youth by running a variety of employable skill based training courses.
  • The skill training is being provided by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) through its partner agencies.
