- National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS): NAIS with the aim to increase coverage of farmers, crops and risk commitment was introduced in the country from Rabi 1999-2000 replacing the erstwhile Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme (CCIS). The scheme is implemented by the Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd.

DIRECTORATE OF MARKETING & INSPECTION (DMI)
- The Directorate, set up in the year 1935 as an attached office of the Ministry of Agriculture, is responsible for integrated development of marketing of agricultural and allied produce in the country.
- It maintains a close liaison between the Central and the state governments in implementation of agricultural marketing policies in the country.
- The Directorate is headed by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India (AMA). It has its Head Office at Faridabad (Haryana), Branch Head Office at Nagpur (Maharashtra).
MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF DMI
- Promotion of Standardization and Grading of agricultural and allied produce under the Agricultural Produce (Grading & Marking) Act, 1937 as amended in 1986.
- Reforms in State Agricultural Marketing Laws and guides States/UTs for development and management of Agricultural Produce Markets.
- Implementation of Plan Schemes viz: (i) Marketing Research and Information Network (MRIN); (ii) Grameen Bhandaran Yojana (GBY); (iii) Development/Strengthening of Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure, Grading & Standardization (AMIGS) and (iv) Strengthening of Agmark Grading Facilities (SAGF).
