AGRICULTURE RESEARCH
- Agriculture in India accounts for over 14% of the GDP and 12% of country’s exports, providing employment to over 50% of the work force and striving towards food security as well as inclusive growth and development.
- Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) of Government of India, the ICAR Research Complex for Goa standardized low cost hydroponics protocols for green fodder production.
- National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture NeGPA: This Centrally Sponsored Mission Mode Project (MMP) sanctioned at a total cost of Rs 227.79 crore for implementation in 7 States during Phase-I of the Programme was introduced during the last phase of the 11th plan (2010-11).
- The NeGPA aims to achieve rapid development of agriculture in India through the use of ICT by ensuring timely access to agriculture related information for the farmers of the country.
- There are a number of current IT initiatives/schemes undertaken by DAC. These initiatives will be integrated so that farmers would be able to make proper and timely use of the available information. Such information is intended to be provided to farmers through multiple delivery channels such as Internet, Government Offices, Touch Screen Kiosks, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Kisan Call Centres, Agri-Clinics, Common Services Centers, Mobile Phones (Broadcast, IVRS, interactive messaging using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and Voice Recognition).
- Farmers Portal aims to serve as One Stop Shop for all the farmers for assessing information on various agricultural related activities.
- The Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, has created A SMS Portal for Farmers. Officers, Scientists and Experts will use this Portal for disseminating information on various agricultural activities.
