Rajasthan government has decided to disinvest two units of Giral Lignite Power Limited (GLPL) in view of losses in per unit power production.
The cabinet has decided for 100 per cent disinvestment of two GLPL units. The plant, a Rajasthan Rajya Vidhyut Utpadan Nigam Limited subsidiary, was set up in two phases and power production began in 2011.
The per unit power production was Rs 7.96 in 2014-15 and Rs 12.33 in 2015-16 with a loss of Rs 2.99 and Rs 3.01 respectively.
Therefore, the decision for disinvestment was taken. It will take place as per the laid procedure through open bidding.
